When to Take a Taxi: Tips for Off-Hours or No Bus Service
This time, let’s talk about taxis in Niseko! I specially made a graphic for everyone to save for reference.
During the snow season, Niseko offers free shuttle buses connecting Hirafu and Hanazono ski resorts, and buses to other ski areas or Kutchan town. These run from Kutchan train station to Annupuri. If you have an All Mountain Pass, you can also ride the Niseko United shuttle bus for free. However, if you need to go somewhere outside the bus routes or outside operation hours, you’ll need to use a taxi.
Taxis in Niseko are reservation-based—they don’t cruise around waiting to be flagged down on the street. Service hours are from 7 am to 2 am. If you need a ride outside these hours, be sure to contact them in advance. Most taxi companies only have Japanese-speaking staff and may not provide English service. If you need help booking, ask your hotel or restaurant staff to assist. During peak season or meal times, taxis can be hard to get, so be sure to book at least 30 minutes ahead.
