Ski Tips Series #4: How to Properly Care for Your Goggles
Ski goggles are an essential part of your gear—if they fog up, half the fun is gone! The wrong goggles can ruin your look and your comfort. Here are some practical tips from Chase4Snow on keeping your goggles fog-free and well-maintained.
📣 How to Prevent Fogging 📣
⭕️ Before use, always check that your lenses are completely dry and moisture-free.
❌ During use, never put your goggles on your forehead during breaks. Only remove your goggles when you’re indoors.
⭕️ After use, place your goggles in a dry room to remove moisture. Always keep airflow inside and outside your goggles. Don’t stuff scarves, masks, or other warm items inside the goggles.
🆘 If fogging has started, use a dryer or heater to dry them out, or use a hand dryer in the restroom.
📣 Everyday Care & Maintenance 📣
✅ For cleaning, use a soft, clean cloth—like a camera lens cloth—to wipe the outer lens surface only.
✅ When changing lenses, make sure your hands are clean and dry.
❎ Never wipe the inside of the lens! The inner surface has an anti-fog coating, and wiping it can destroy the layer, making fogging worse.
✅ Always store your goggles face-up or inside their pouch when not in use.
✅ At the end of the season, make sure your goggles are completely dry before putting them in a case. You can also add a desiccant packet to keep out moisture.
