Beyond Skiing: Niseko Adventure Park Guide
What else can you do in Niseko besides skiing? The NAC Adventure Park next to Ace Family in Grand Hirafu is a great choice. It’s the largest outdoor adventure park in Japan, with different courses for all ages and skill levels—there’s a challenge for everyone from beginners to experts. In summer, you need to book at least a month in advance, but in winter you can walk in without a reservation. Unlike most adventure parks that are set in the forest, here you get to climb, zipline, skateboard, jump, and traverse high ropes surrounded by white snow—a super fun experience that really feels like being in a Narnia movie.
In winter, no reservation is required. You can join a safety lesson anytime and, once you learn how to use the gear, you can enjoy the park all day. Even as someone who skis every day, I’m usually exhausted after just two or three hours—your arms will be dead tired! That’s when you should hit the snow onsen, head home, and collapse into bed. The next morning, you’ll wake up fully recharged, with your snow spirit burning, ready to catch the first lift. Don’t miss out—next time you visit Niseko, plan for a half day to become Tarzan in the white forest!
